This new mountain home sits directly on one of Kirkwood’s ski runs, offering a true ski-in, ski-out experience. The design of the house revolves around easy slope access, with a dedicated ski gear mudroom and locker area located at the back of the house for skiers and snowboarders to gear up or drop off equipment right from the run. A separate main entry mudroom serves everyday use for guests and residents.

A key design challenge was combining direct ski access with capturing the best views of the surrounding mountains. The house is carefully oriented on the site to achieve both—allowing expansive views from the main living areas while maintaining seamless access to the slopes.

Material selection focused on durability and performance in extreme alpine conditions. Each material was chosen to handle heavy snow loads, blizzards, and intense summer sun, with careful consideration of snow shedding and long-term maintenance.

The result is a modern mountain home built for year-round adventure—resilient, functional, and deeply connected to its environment.
