This approximately 4,000-square-foot remodel transformed an existing Lake Tahoe home that had been altered over the years with multiple additions, resulting in a disconnected layout that missed the property's greatest asset—the lake. The design reorganized the plan to create a clear relationship between the living spaces and the view, with every primary room oriented toward Lake Tahoe. Larger windows and sliding glass doors were introduced throughout to bring in more natural light and maximize the connection to the landscape. The architecture and interior finishes were selected with a clean, modern approach while working within the constraints of the steep site. Stepping the house down the hillside allowed the program to fit naturally into the terrain, capture the views, and stay within the allowable building height.
